Spirit Week 2008

School Spirit This year's events took place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. There were an exciting variety of competitions and trivia questions in which students competed for extra points. Freshmen started the week in the lead with their sales from the Magazine Drive. Sophomores claimed the victory on stadium decorations. Seniors and juniors battled throughout the week in activities like crazy dress, class theme dress, the class mural design, and the Powder Puff football game. Based on the students' efforts, the title was definitely up for grabs. The week's spirit proved vitally important at the annual Spirit Week Rally. Classes competed in many different events to win final points for their classes. Cheerleaders danced to “Damaged” by Danity Kane along with music from their themed eras. The tug-of-war battles were epic! In the consolation match, the freshmen found the resolve to defeat the sophomores. In the final, the seniors came together and proved to be a stronger force than the juniors. The immense scoreboard in the main corridor kept the students in the loop as to who was winning all week long, but in the end it was the Class of 2009 who took the title of Spirit Week Champions! Congratulations, seniors! A huge thank you to all of the class moderators, class representatives, ASB, and everyone who participated in Spirit Week. The week's success is dependent upon the dedication and efforts of these teams.

Archbishop Mitty recognizes that some students require financial support to pursue a Catholic, college preparatory education. It is the goal of the school administration and the Board of Regents to give all qualified students, regardless of financial resources, an opportunity to attend AMHS. Two financial aid programs are available for AMHS students: the Archbishop Mitty Work Grant Program and the Diocese of San Jose Scholarship Program. The applications for these programs are available online at www.mitty.com. Go to quick links and click on financial aid or call the Business Office at (408) 252-6960. The deadline for returning completed applications to the AMHS Business Office is February 4, 2009. Late applications will not be accepted. Students currently receiving financial aid will automatically be sent a new application for the 2009-2010 school year. Families must reapply each year.
