MUSICAL THEATER EMPHASIS

The Musical Theater Emphasis is an audition-based, high-level training track for advanced performers, delivering intensive study in acting, voice, and dance while maximizing performance opportunities and accelerating artistic growth.

HOW TO AUDITION

During the spring semester, current students and incoming 9th graders will prepare a one-minute song and a one-minute monologue of their choice and participate in the mandatory dance audition.
Students who pass the audition will be pre-approved for the musical emphasis courses listed below.

COURSES INCLUDE:

MUSICAL THEATER DANCE
A musical theater dance course that builds technique,
through structured training and audition-focused
choreography. This pass/fail course is offered zero period at
7:30 a.m. and students will be asked to attend twice a week.

CONCERT CHOIR/VOCAL ENSEMBLE
In both ensembles students refine vocal technique,
musicianship, and ensemble skills through the study and
performance of challenging choral repertoire, presenting up
to 4–5 concerts annually both on and off campus.

ACTING STYLES
Acting Styles is an advanced, college-preparatory course
for highly motivated actors, with each semester focusing on
a different discipline — drama, comedy, Shakespeare, or
acting for film.

ADVANCED ACTING
This yearlong course is for the advanced performer looking
to take the next step to pursue acting and musical theatre
at the college level. There will be a strong emphasis on
preparing the student for college auditions.
