Women's Volleyball

The AMHS women’s volleyball team is the premier prep volleyball program in the country. Over the years, the program has produced some incredible alumnae, including three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri (Walsh ’96) Jennings. The Monarchs have claimed 14 CIF State Championships since 1993.

Bret Almazan-Cezar

Coach Almazan-Cezar has lead the Monarchs to 11 state championships and seven recognized national championships during his 19 years of coaching AMHS women’s volleyball teams. In 2017, he was named the Coach of the Year by The Mercury News, MaxPreps, and USA Today. Over his coaching career, Coach Almazan-Cezar has also been named the National Coach of the Year by MaxPreps, the American Volleyball Coaches Association, and Prepvolleyball.com. Coach Almazan-Cezar has won more than 800 matches, placing him in the top two for career wins among all high school volleyball coaches in the state. He has also been inducted into the AMHS Hall of Champions and Hall of Honor.
