The women’s softball program has taken home 15 sectional banners over the years, which is more than any other program in CCS history. In 2009, the Monarchs won the National Championship after going 32-0. This spring, the team was named WCAL Tournament Champions and went on to win the inaugural Open Division CCS Championship.
Coach Joe Gron has been coaching softball for 18 years, and has been the head coach at Archbishop Mitty for the past two years. Under his guidance, the Monarchs have won two league titles and two CCS championships. In 2016, he was named The Mercury News Coach of the Year. He has also been recognized as the Coach of the Year by Prep2Prep. When he isn’t coaching Monarchs, Coach Gron serves as the head coach of San Jose Sting Gold, a competitive softball team that he has been a part of for the past 10 years.
