  • All athletic camps are taught by Archbishop Mitty Varsity Head Coaches with additional direction from assistant coaches and varsity student athletes.
  • Advanced and Clinic Camps are for experienced athletes looking to fully develop athletic intuition and skill required for competitive play at the high school level.
  • All Skills Camps are for athletes looking to learn and hone fundamentals of the sport through a variety of skill-based competition.
  • Noon lunch is available by AMHS in-house caterer, Epicurean. Meal plans can be purchased online when registering for Athletic camps.  
  • Camp cost includes a Summer Program apparel item.

Co-Educational Athletics

Junior Monarch Recreational Camp (Rising 1-4 Grade):

Our unique, co-educational recreation camp introduces youngsters to traditional sport games such as basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Other team games such as kickball, capture the flag, and ultimate Frisbee are also introduced. The goal of our coaches is to provide an exciting and welcoming environment for all our Junior Monarch participants.  Everyone on staff is dedicated to supporting and promoting the emotional and physical development of each child. Nutritious snacks are provided daily. Participants are required to wear athletic shoes and apparel, and to bring a bottle of water each day.

Cross Country and Track: Distance Running-All Skills (Rising 7-9 Grade):

For the new and experienced runner, this camp focuses on the principles and practices of successful, competitive distance running. Our coaches will  assess and place athletes into an appropriate training groups based on current experience and speed on the first day of camp. All will learn about nutrition, hydration, and how to enhance running economy through a safe mileage progression, whether on the track, in the neighborhood, or on the trails. Additionally, athletes will learn how to prevent injury while maximizing speed through warm up and cool down routines that include static and dynamic stretching, interval training, and exercises designed to strengthen key muscle and joint groups.  Moreover, attention will be given to each athlete’s running mechanics, including one-on-one coaching and film analysis. The week will culminate in racing the mile. Everyone has the opportunity to improve while enjoying the unique community that is distance running.

Boys’ Athletics

Baseball- Pitch and Catch Clinic (Rising 7-9 Grade):

In this clinic, our coaches instruct pitchers on mechanics, arm care, and the mindset of pitching. Instruction on various pitches and possible strategies to employ against different hitter types is also taught.  Catchers are instructed on the fundamentals of receiving, blocking, throwing, fielding, and pitch calling. By the end of our clinic, athletes will leave armed with specifics drills and a deeper understanding for the mindset of pitching and catching.

Baseball- Hitting Clinic (Rising 7-9 Grade):

For players looking to improve their hitting skills, our coaches offer detailed instruction on the field and in the batting cages using video swing analysis.  The focus of this clinic is to instruct players on proper hitting techniques, while minimizing physical exertion. Participants should be capable of fully competing in scheduled games on the same day following the clinic.

This camp specializes in teaching athletes proper footwork and shooting techniques.  Whether you play in the post or on the perimeter, the goal of our coaches is to maximize an athlete’s shooting potential.  During the competitive drills portion of the camp, athletes will be grouped according to age and/or ability to meet the needs of all players. Wear comfortable athletic attire and bring a bottle of water.

Athletes are grouped by age, size and ability. (Equipment is provided).

Lacrosse- Fundamental Skills (Rising 6-9 Grade):

For the new and experienced lacrosse player, our coaches will build and reinforce the fundamental skills of the game while teaching the nuances of dodging, defending, and shooting. By the end of camp, athletes will have a foundation on which to further develop stick skills, passing, and shooting. Athletes will be assessed on the first day of camp and placed into an appropriate training group based on current experience and speed. Training for the first-time player is modified so that only a lacrosse stick is required.  Sticks are available for the first-time player if needed. An experienced player will need full equipment: helmet, gloves, cleats, arm pads, shoulder pads, stick and mouth guard.

Soccer- All Skills (Rising 6-9 Grade):

In this camp, our coaches teach the technical and tactical skills for competitive soccer. For younger players improving individual skills such as dribbling, passing, receiving and controlling the ball, defending and tackling, as well as shooting is emphasized.  For the more experienced player, athletes are taught team play with an emphasis on advanced technical ball skills to promote group defensive and offensive tactics and techniques.

Volleyball- All Skills (Rising 6-9 Grade):

Throughout the week, our coaches reinforce key elements of passing, setting, hitting and blocking through fun and interactive learning experiences. Whether you are new to field hockey or an experienced player, this camp is designed to be highly engaging where athletes of all ages and skill have fun playing the game of field hockey.  In this camp, our coaches emphasize dribbling, shooting, passing and scoring skills appropriate for each level as well as defensive positioning and tackling. During the competitive drills portion of the camp, players will be grouped according to age and/or ability to promote fun while learning new technical and tactical skills.  Wear comfortable athletic attire. Field hockey sticks are provided for use. However, players are required to provide their own soccer shin guards.

Learn to play the “Monarch Way”, where our experienced coaches teach the technical and tactical aspects of “the beautiful game”. For our younger players, we focus on improving individual technique, including dribbling, passing and receiving, defending and tackling, as well as shooting and finishing.  Experienced players are exposed to more advanced tactical concepts of team play, with an emphasis on improving technical ability and speed of play to promote group defensive and offensive success. For our goalkeepers, you’ll receive specialized instruction focusing on technical handling and footwork, tactical awareness, and physical presence. Most importantly, there’s plenty of fun and open play to put your new skills to use.
