Monarch Madness XXVI Tickets Available Soon!!!

Tickets for Monarch Madness will be available soon. Each student will need to respond to a digital request from Student Activities this week indicating that he or she wishes to attend the event. Students who do not reply to the request will not receive their designated wristband for admission during a special homeroom at 8:25 a.m. on Thursday, March 2nd.

Tickets for family and friends will be $7 each, and names will be chosen using a lottery system. Each student will have an opportunity to enter his or her name in the lottery for a maximum of TWO family/friend tickets, if they reply YES to a request that will be emailed out on February 16th. Names will be drawn on February 21st and 22nd, and the students chosen will have 48 hours to come into Student Activities to purchase those tickets. We realize there is a high demand for Monarch Madness tickets, and we feel this is the most efficient and fair method for tickets to be sold.

Do you have questions about Monarch Madness? Please, check the Monarch Madness page under "Student Life" on the school's website for information about the event. Otherwise, feel free to contact Student Activities.

Athletics Report

Varsity Wrestling Headed for CCS ChampionshipsSchool Spirit
The wrestling team finished up the WCAL Wrestling Championship Finals with strong performances, sending all nine of its wrestlers on to compete in the CCS Tournament later this month. Four wrestlers won league championships with spectacular style, pinning their opponents as part of the match, including junior Raymond Rendon (115 lbs.), senior Thomas Kost (162 lbs.), junior Evan Friend (170 lbs.), and senior Michael Juco (285 lbs.).

The successful league performance followed excellent individual performances last week, when wrestlers had a final dual meet against Junipero Serra. During that competition, an impressive six athletes won their matches, including Kost, Juco, Rendon, junior Dominic Torregroza (225 lbs.), junior Charles Baguley (162 lbs.), and freshman Marcos Jimenez (154 lbs.) The dual meet was Senior Night for the team, so it marked a special chance for teammates to celebrate the upperclassmen. Juco and Kost, who are both seniors, didn't disappoint and won their matches with pins.

Women's Basketball Wins Against Saint Francis
The women's basketball team won a closely contested game against Saint Francis last week, defeating the Lancers 71-65. Junior Karisma Ortiz had a strong game and contributed 24 points, while her teammate, senior Madeline Holland, notched 10 points. The team is currently unbeaten in the league and boasts an incredible 8-0 record. Cheer them to victory this week as they play their last two games of the season on campus. The Monarchs will take on Saint Ignatius at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Presentation at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Congratulations Monarchs on a great season and good luck on the final two games!
