Another Great Night to be a Monarch!
Last Thursday marked a magical night for the Archbishop Mitty community. The City National Civic was host to the 25th edition of Monarch Madness, and it left students, faculty, and families alike feeling the true nature of what it means to be a Monarch. From the opening production of "The Breakfast Club" to the class dances and games and another exceptional ROAR competition, the evening was filled with the tangible feelings of excitement, competition, and community. As our students sang out this year's liturgical theme song "Unpack Your Heart" by Phillip Phillips at the end of the evening, the event lived up to its billing as "The Greatest Night to be a Monarch!"
In the end, the Class of 2016 came away with the victory, and its name will be engraved on the trophy. Monarch Madness XXV once again showcased that despite being made up of four classes, our entire Archbishop Mitty community can come together and celebrate all of its members and the gifts God has given each of us. Thank you to all who participated and attended this glorious event. |

Athletics Report
Women's Hoops Capture CCS Crown
The varsity women's basketball team continued its run through the post-season last Friday night with a 79-60 victory over Pinewood School in the CCS Open Division Championship Game. The Monarchs displayed their full range of weapons in a performance that left no doubt about their credentials as the section’s best team.
Junior Heleyna Hill's 25 points lead all scorers, with classmate Tahlia Garza contributed 14 of her own, many from inside the paint. Sophomore Karisma Ortiz kept things running on the offensive end as she dished out 15 assists.
The Monarchs, who received the number three seed in Northern California, will move on to the CIF-State Tournament this week with a home game this Friday night versus Salesian College Prep of Richmond. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Fien Gym.
Men's Soccer Are Sectional Co-Champs
Congratulations to the men's varsity soccer team for its historic achievement. The Monarchs earned a share of the inaugural CIF Open Division Championship after a hard fought 0-0 draw with Watsonville High School this past Friday night at Santa Clara University's Buck Shaw Stadium.
Both teams had several great chances to win the trophy outright, but in the end, they settled for a co-championship. While several players had outstanding performances, "man-of-the-match" honors probably go to sophomore backup goalkeeper Matt Rose, who produced a number of big saves to preserve the shutout. Well done, men's soccer!
