CRS Rice Bowl School Spirit

This week Catholic Relief Services invites us to reflect upon the Catholic social teaching theme of Rights and Responsibilities through its work in Laos. In this principle, Rights and Responsibilities, we remember that, as human beings, we have the rights to live and grow in peace. Because we have that right, we have the responsibility to make sure others, too, enjoy the same opportunity. To learn more about Catholic social teaching and how CRS rice bowl is helping families in Laos, please visit crsricebowl.org.

Monarch Madness XXV Student Sign-Ups

With the implementation of a Student Activities fee this school year, every Archbishop Mitty student is eligible to go to Monarch Madness. An email will be sent to AMHS students today from Student Activities. The purpose of the email is to request that each student indicates whether he or she wishes to attend Monarch Madness. By replying "yes," students will receive their designated wristband for admission during a special homeroom on Thursday, March 3rd. Students will need to have current AMHS student IDs, along with their wristbands, to be admitted into the event.

Monarch Madness XXV family/friend tickets
If your student entered his or her name into the lottery last week, please be aware that names will be pulled this week. Freshman and sophomore names will be pulled tomorrow (Tuesday, February 23rd) and email notifications will be sent out. Lottery winners will have 48-hours from the email time to come into Student Activities to purchase a maximum of TWO parent tickets for $7.00 each.

Junior and senior names will be pulled on Wednesday, February 24th, and the 48-hour response time will also be in place.

Have questions regarding Monarch Madness? Please check the Monarch Madness page under Student Life. Then click FAQs, which should provide you with answers. Otherwise, feel free to contact Student Activities.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast Tickets Now on SaleSchool Spirit

"Be Our Guest" as we bring Belle and her enchanted world to life in the Thomas Kinkade Center for the Arts March 11th through March 19th. Tickets are $14 for adults and $10 for students. Additionally, tickets are available for our annual Opening Night Dinner Show (March 11th) which includes dinner in the Aymar Events Center prior to the 7:30 p.m. show.

School Spirit

In addition to attending the event, there are several other ways you can make the event a super success... encourage your friends to attend, help in the committee, donate or help acquire auction items, or make a cash underwriting donation. A very special underwriters reception will be held for underwriting donations over $2,000.

Next general meeting is March 10th in the Monarch Room at 7:00 p.m.
Parent volunteers are hard at work planning the event. Donations, both items and underwriting, are now being accepted for the auction. In addition to attendance, be a part of this great evening through all levels of participation.

If you want to learn more about The Mitty Auction and how you can help, please plan to attend or contact Sarah Janigian, Director of Special Events, at (408) 342-4224 or via email at sjanigian@mitty.com.

School Spirit

Wrestling
Our varsity wrestlers competed in the CCS Championships this past weekend, coming away with a very respectable sixth-place team finish. Top individual finishers included junior Daniel Woodward's 4th place (160 lbs.), senior Blake Flovin's 2nd place (220 lbs.), and junior Mark Chaid's championship in the 182 lbs. division. Both Chaid and Flovin will advance to the CIF State Championships next weekend in Visalia. Good luck!

Men's Basketball
The team received the number five seed in the CCS Open Division Championships on the strength of its 13-11 record. The team will play number four Menlo-Atherton at Piedmont Hills High School this Friday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Women's Basketball
The Monarchs earned the top spot in the Open Division after claiming the WCAL title with an undefeated league season. They are set to face the 8th seed Los Gatos Wildcats in another 7:30 p.m. start on Friday, 2/26. That game will be played at Wilcox High School.

Men's Soccer
A seventh seed in the inaugural Open Division Championships sends the men's soccer team to Salinas on Saturday, 2/27 for a 7:00 p.m. match away at second-seeded Alisal High School. The Monarchs will be looking to reverse a narrow 1-0 non-league loss to the Trojans this past December.
