2016-2017 Financial Aid Application Now AvailableSchool Spirit

We are pleased to announce the online Financial Aid Application for the 2016-2017 school year is now available on mitty.com.

All families requesting financial aid will be directed to the school's website to create an account with PSAS, the outside service the Diocese of San Jose retains to collect and evaluate levels of financial need. If you are new to the program, you will be asked to provide an email address and a password. For families that filed for financial aid last year, you can access your account as a returning applicant by using your login information. Once you have created an account, you can login when convenient; fill out the application, update, change and save information; track your progress; and communicate directly with helpful and knowledgeable staff members at PSAS. For returning applicants, your previous information has been saved for easy reference. The application is easy to navigate, the instructions are clear, it's available in English and Spanish, and only one application per family is required. This process has been mainstreamed to provide a faster, simpler, friendlier service to our families.

Men's Soccer Climb WCAL Standings
A pair of league victories last week saw the varsity men's soccer team shoot up the WCAL table. The Monarchs played host to St. Ignatius at John Mise Park on Wednesday, running out 3-0 winners on the strength of a pair goals from junior Makenna Pendleton, along with a solo effort from junior Andrew Robertson.

The team followed up that victory with a 6-0 result away at Archbishop Riordan. Pendleton tallied again, adding to goals from sophomores Jake Serpa and Jay Houston, seniors David Tenorio and Nikolas Eppel, and junior Daniel Sanchez.

The Monarchs (2-1) now sit two points out of the league lead, with matches this week against Valley Christian (3:15 p.m. Wednesday @ Mise Park) and Serra (11:00 a.m. Saturday @ Serra).

Men's & Women's Hoops Roll Into League Play
Both our varsity basketball programs started league play with solid victories last week.

The men's team opened its WCAL campaign last Tuesday night at home with a thrilling 55-50 win over Sacred Heart Cathedral. In a physical game, the Monarchs got excellent play from three of their big men, with senior Ben Kone leading the way with a 14 point, 12 rebound performance. Fellow senior Nick LaBruna added 12 points and eight rebounds, with sophomore Riley Grigsby chipping in 12 and seven.

The team hit the road with a Friday night trip to St. Ignatius. Kone again was the catalyst, with a 15 point, 15 rebound box score, as the Monarchs again grabbed the "W" with a 45-42 score line. Senior guard Michael Scott added 14 points.

The women's team was no less successful, notching a pair of league wins. Sophomore Karisma Ortiz had the hot hand in the Monarchs 76-35 away win on Wednesday at Notre Dame-Belmont, tallying 25 points in the night. Junior Maddie Holland added seven boards and seven points, and freshman Haley Jones made her WCAL debut with a dominant performance in the paint, grabbing 10 rebounds and adding five blocked shots.

The team wrapped up the week with another convincing performance, defeating St. Ignatius 85-52 in the home opener. The Monarchs got big nights from Holland (16 & 8), junior Heleyna Hill (15 & 6) and junior Dani Guglielmo (12 points), but the star of the night was Jones. The freshman posted 16 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and a pair of blocked shots. Well done, men's and women's basketball!
