It's Not Too Late to Sign Up for myschoolbucks.com!

In case you missed this super opportunity or have just forgotten that it is an option, Archbishop Mitty High School offers myschoolbucks.com as a convenient way to pay for and monitor your hungry teenager's meals during school.

It's easy: go to "QuickLinks" on the AMHS website, and find "Cafeteria Cash Card." The link will feature myschoolbucks.com. Set up a new account, add your student's name and student ID#, and add funds from your credit card or bank account. You can add money any time, or set up auto-payments to "set it and forget it." You can also review your student's cafeteria purchases and receive low balance notifications. New this year: your student can drop off a check in the Front Office, payable to Epicurean, in any amount and the funds will be credited to your lunch account. There is no fee for this method of payment.

Items to note: There is a $15 fee per student, per school year for the use of this service. There is a $1.95 fee for every online payment transaction and every payment takes 24 hours to process. Cash will always be accepted in the cafeteria, but those frantic Monday mornings or last minute demands for cash on your way to school will be a thing of the past when you sign up for myschoolbucks.com. It's convenient, secure, and one less thing you have to think about!

Student Activities

Back to School Dance tickets now on sale
The Back to School Dance will be on Saturday, September 12th, in Fien Gymnasium from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The theme for the dance is "Paint the Night," so students are encouraged to come decked out in their favorite neon, or white outfits. Tickets can be purchased online at www.mitty.com for $5 each. Go to Quick Links, select Tickets or click here, and enter the student's name & student ID number. Students will need a credit or debit card to complete the online purchase. This is a very popular dance and all students are encouraged to attend! As a reminder, students need to bring a current ID to be checked into the dance. A complete description of our dance dress code can also be found on mitty.com under Student Life/Dances.

If a student wishes to bring a non-Mitty guest to the dance, guest pass forms are also available under Student Life/Dances. These forms need to be completed and returned to Student Activities by TOMORROW, September 9th.

AMHS' Retail Partnership Program

Register Your Target Red Card and Generate Funds for AMHS!
It's a new school year and the Retail Partnership Program Chair is anxious to help AMHS families effortlessly see donations made to Mitty through their everyday shopping and dining. There's been an important change to the program. Safeway terminated their association with eScrip which funded thousands of dollars in donations to Mitty (and other schools) each year. That change makes it more important than ever to shop with other merchants participating in AMHS’ Retail Partnership Program. Over the next few weeks the newsletter will feature the many other ways you can easily generate funds for AMHS.

Register your Target Red Card through Target's Take Charge of Education Program.
• Go to www.target.com/tcoe.
• Complete the school name, city and state under the "Sign Me Up" box on the left.
• In the "Designated School" box on the right, complete your first and last name and your Target Red Card number, then click "Complete Enrollment."
• Shop with your Target Red Card as you normally would and donations flow to AMHS! It's that easy!

Please take a few moments to register your Target Red Card today! Should you experience any problems, please contact Pam Kliewer at (408) 406-0085 or pam@kliewerteam.com.
To learn more about the Retail Partnership Program, use the Quick Link on Mitty's website or click here.

Parent Pledge Annual Campaign

Annual parent pledge has begun. No other gift program more directly benefits your student. The funds raised go directly to the operating budget to fund enhanced academic and extracurricular programs for your child and other Monarchs. As an added bonus, many corporations are willing to match your gift. Your employer can advise you if your company has a matching gift program. Thank you to the many families who have responded so generously. The program is being coordinated by Mary Jane Schmidt in the Advancement Office. Football Rolls Over Los Gatos in Season Opener
The varsity football team began the 2015 season with a bang, topping Los Gatos High School 45-16 in front of a packed home crowd this past Friday night at Foothill College. The victory gave first-year head coach Keith Burns the best start he could have hoped for, with the Monarchs playing well on both sides of the ball.

The team was lead by senior quarterback Sam Serra, who rushed for three touchdowns and passed for the fourth to pace the Monarchs offensively. The team also got rushing TDs from fellow senior Derek Bauerle and junior Austin Kause. Senior kicker Nick Eppel added a 29-yard field goal to round out the scoring.

Defensively, the Monarchs were just as dominant, making big plays throughout the game and forcing several Wildcat turnovers, including two fourth quarter interceptions by seniors Blake Flovin and Justin Collier. Defensive end Nick LaBruna also made his presence felt, registering three sacks on the night.

The Monarchs continue their non-league schedule this coming Friday night with a trip to Aptos High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Cross Country Sweeps Prospect
Congratulations to our varsity cross country team for its outstanding performance against Prospect High School last week. Both the men's and women's runners won their respective races to give the Monarchs a sweep of the Panthers.

The men were paced by senior Justin Siu, who posted a winning time of 11:20. Also posting top performances were junior Eric Coyle (11:23), senior Esteban McDonald (11:24), and sophomore Sam Leather (11:28).

In the women's event, senior standout Julia Lemack's 12:31 was good enough for first place, with sophomore Sarah Savage (13:18), junior Abigail Mangilog (13:27), and senior Erin Weiner (13:33) also putting in impressive races.

All told, it was an excellent start for what's shaping up to be a great year for cross-country!

AMHS Uses Two Methods of Reporting Grades for Students

WebGrade
Teachers provide grade information on a semimonthly basis through WebGrade. This information includes specifics on student grades such as homework assignments, quizzes, class participation, projects, and exams. Parents and students may review a student's progress by consulting WebGrade. Teachers upload grades on or about the first and fifteenth of each month. WebGrade may be accessed from Quick Links on the website. The student ID is your student's 5 digit ID number and the password is your student's last name.

Report Cards

Report cards are posted on the AMHS website at the conclusion of each semester and each quarter. Grades on the second and fourth report cards are the semester grades and are the basis on which credit for the semester's work is determined. Only semester grades appear on the transcripts. Transcripts are also posted on the website. The first and third quarter report cards are considered formal student progress reports.

Report Cards and Transcripts
Report cards and transcripts may be printed from the school's website and may be accessed from Quick Links. Follow the example to log on to your student's page. Click on Students on the top bar to view the drop down menu to select report card or transcript. Posting dates for the 2015 2016 year are Quarter One: October 27, 2015 (report card only); Semester One: January 12, 2016 (report card and unofficial transcript); Quarter Three: March 14, 2016 (report card only); Semester Two: June 3, 2016 (report card and unofficial transcript).

UPLIFT Support GroupSchool Spirit

Uplift is a new Campus Ministry group at Archbishop Mitty. This group will be dedicated to students whose parents are going through (or have previously gone through) cancer treatment or those who have lost a parent or sibling to cancer.

Our goals are to
• Give a space where students can feel safe and speak freely with peers and know they are not alone going through this stressful time.

• Provide an environment where students going through similar experiences can connect and share coping strategies.

• Have a venue where students can work through difficult emotions via art, journaling, meditation, group discussions, speakers or walks, for example.

Uplift will be moderated by Archbishop Mitty teachers who have personal experiences dealing with cancer, as well as a school counselor. We will provide a monthly lunch for the Uplift participants, followed by games, creative projects, discussions and other activities.

If you would like more information about Uplift or your student would like to be a part of this group this year please email Rose Lopez at rlopez@mitty.com.
