The Mass of Healing - Today, October 12th, at 2:45 p.m. in the Chapel. All are welcome School Spirit

Uplift is a new Campus Ministry group at Archbishop Mitty. This group is dedicated to students whose parents are going through (or have previously gone through) cancer treatment or those who have lost a parent or sibling to cancer.

Our goals are to
• Provide a space where students can feel safe and speak freely with peers and know they are not alone going through this stressful time.

• Create an environment where students going through similar experiences can connect and share coping strategies.

• Have a venue where students can work through difficult emotions via art, journaling, meditation, group discussions, speakers or walks, for example.

Uplift is moderated by Archbishop Mitty teachers who have personal experiences dealing with cancer, as well as a school counselor. We will provide a monthly lunch for the Uplift participants, followed by games, creative projects, discussions and other activities. If you would like more information about Uplift or your student would like to be a part of this group please email Rose Lopez at rlopez@mitty.com.

Seniors who have class during a scheduled visit must do the following to attend the presentation (and avoid detention):
• Sign up for the college visit in Family Connection. Login and click on the "Colleges" Tab. On the right side, you will see "Upcoming college visits." Click on that tab and you can sign up.

• Complete the "College Visit Form" at least three days prior to the visit

• After your college visit, return to the Attendance Office for a blue slip.

Football Beats Bellarmine
With a packed house looking on, the varsity football team took down #1 ranked Bellarmine College Prep 35-28 last Friday night at San Jose City College. The Monarchs beat the previously undefeated Bells with arguably their best performance of the season.

Leading the way was quarterback Sam Serra, who tossed a pair of touchdowns to seniors Colin McKinnon and Andrew Cairns. The senior QB added two rushing TD's of his own, including an amazing 51 yarder in the fourth quarter to give the Monarchs their fifth score of the evening.

The biggest play of the night came earlier in the final quarter, when junior Tyler Jochen completed a fourth and four halfback option pass to McKinnon for the go ahead TD.

The defense was no less impressive, coming up with big plays when they needed them, including an interception by senior Ryan Sutton and a key fumble recovery by senior Justin Collier. Fellow seniors Matt Tofano and Blake Flovin combined for 19 tackles on the night.

The win puts the Monarchs squarely back in the race for the WCAL title. Up next... a trip to San Mateo this Saturday afternoon to take on the Padres at Serra High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Men's Water Polo Wins Harker Polofest
The varsity men's water polo team returns to campus this week with some new hardware after claiming the championship trophy at the Harker School "Polofest" this past weekend. The Monarchs went 4-0 in the competition, downing Fremont (15-7), Pioneer (15-8), Capuchino (12-1), and Willow Glen (11-8) on their way to the title.

The team got balanced scoring from a number of players, including multi-goal performances from seniors Nate Chandler (10) and Ryan Le (6), and juniors Dylan Luu (8), Conor MacLean (6), and Ewan McGarvey (5) in what can best be described as a complete team effort. Fellow junior, Jaxon Verbeck, was a force in the Monarch goal with over 30 saves. Congratulations to the entire team on a great weekend!

It's Not Too Late to Sign Up for myschoolbucks.com!!

In case you missed this super opportunity or have just forgotten that it is an option, Archbishop Mitty High School offers myschoolbucks.com as a convenient way to pay for and monitor your hungry teenager's meals during school.

It's easy: go to "QuickLinks" on the AMHS website, and find "Cafeteria Cash Card."
The link will feature myschoolbucks.com. Set up a new account, add your student's name and student ID#, and add funds from your credit card or bank account. You can add money any time, or set up auto-payments to "set it and forget it." You can also review your student's cafeteria purchases and receive low balance notifications. New this year: your student can drop off a check in the Front Office, payable to Epicurean, in any amount and the funds will be credited to your lunch account. There is no fee for this method of payment.

Items to note: There is a $15 fee per student, per school year for the use of this service. There is a $1.95 fee for every online payment transaction and every payment takes 24 hours to process. Cash will always be accepted in the cafeteria, but those frantic Monday mornings or last minute demands for cash on your way to school will be a thing of the past when you sign up for myschoolbucks.com. It's convenient, secure, and one less thing you have to think about!
