I'm teaching the same class as last year. What do I do?

  1. Follow MicroGrade Lesson 1 on this page. Don’t worry about having the model class in your folder.
Rename the folder you just downloaded as Grades 15-16 or whatever tickles your fancy.

Ok…so the idea for the next sequence is to open last year’s class. Save that class for this year. And then duplicate that class for each section. You will fill the class with students after you have completed these steps.

  2. Open the MicroGrade class you taught from last year that you are teaching again this year.
  3. Go File>Save as
  4. Click on Option 3 and then uncheck assignments. Click on Save...
  5. A new window appears. Before you click Save, beeline to that new folder on your desktop. Now name the class starting with the period followed by the class (8 Calculus). Now click Save.
Ok…so you just opened up one of your classes from last year and saved into your new 2015-16 folder.
  6. A new class will open up. In the menu bar, click on Periods>Modify Grading Period and update for this year.
  7. If you teach another section of this class, go to Save As…and save it again, typing in the new period. So when you are done, you will have a series of classes in your 2015-16 folder.
  8. If you teach another class. Quit Micrograde and start with Step 2 above.
  9. When you have all the new classes in your 2015-16 folder. Watch MicroGrade Lesson 3.
