The Mitty Robotics Team is a life-changing, career-molding experience…and a lot of fun.  Involvement in Mitty Robotics teaches our students engineering, CAD design, electronics, communication, project management, marketing and business skills.  The primary focus for the team is participation in FIRST Robotics Competitions, the Silicon Valley Regional and the Davis Regional. We have six weeks to develop a strategy and to design, build, program and test a 130-pound robot that will join an alliance with other teams to compete in a high-tech tournament. It’s intense, but a lot of fun!

Have you ever wanted to dance like those on “So You Think You Can Dance” or “Dancing with the Stars?" Well now is your chance to learn. The Ballroom Dance Club invites students to learn new forms of dance. The students learn new dances at the Starlite Ballroom on Friday nights. We meet at least 3 nights and then during club activity periods to practice different ballroom dances. No prior experience is necessary.

Do you like to talk? Do you enjoy reading? Well, if you answered “yes” to either one of these questions, the Book Club might just be the Club for you. Members vote upon the list of book brainstormed in order to cater to a large variety of audiences. Come join us for a meeting this month!

STUDENTS ABOVE THE INFLUENCE

There are many “influences” in society that drag us down as people. Drugs and alcohol are two of them and because of this they are a major problem in our society.
A large number of students at Mitty do not find it necessary to partake in the use of drugs or alcohol and they wish to be “above” these influences as well as being “above” any other influences that can lead to behaviors that are harmful to them. We provide a place for these students to meet in an environment that supports them and gives them opportunities to have fun and meaningful experiences that do not involve drugs or alcohol or any other influences that compromise the morals or the integrity of the individual.

SUSHI (Students United for Societal Health Issues)

We believe that to fight disease in our society and come up with real solutions, we need to both educate and engage in advocacy. Our goal is to raise awareness about health issues, including the prevention and detection of disease.  In addition, we will support the efforts of groups such as the American Cancer Society and the LIVERight campaign. We will also inform Mitty students about mental and physical fitness and nutrition so that they may spread the word and help promote a healthier generation. Please join us so we can make a difference together.

TABLE TENNIS CLUB

The purpose of our Table Tennis (ping pong) club is to provide another stage on which Mitty athletes can shine. This club will be open to everyone, being a safe and fun environment for students to make friends and enhance their table tennis skills. We plan to hold table tennis tournaments which will allow students to test their skills against Mitty’s finest. Also, the club leaders will demonstrate various techniques and teach the official rules to everyone in the club, which will promote fair, yet competitive play. In addition to traditional play, we will teach other forms of table tennis which include games with up to several players
