Annual "Teens for Teens" Christmas Drive

November 21st - December 1st
Archbishop Mitty has held a "Teens for Teens" Christmas drive for eight years. More than 50 California Scholarship Federation members plan and organize the event. They publicize the drive by speaking in religion classes and producing a Mitty Minute for the school's morning announcements. They also go to the Gifts for Teens Warehouse, which is sponsored by the American Association of University Women, to put together more than 1,200 tote bags that will be delivered to teenagers in Santa Clara County who are receiving help from Sacred Heart Community Center and various other non-profits and shelters in our area.

"Teens for Teens" is one of the few organizations in the Bay Area that collects gifts for teenagers. Most of the other groups collect gifts for babies, young children, and families. Last year, more than half of the student body contributed a gift or a gift card.

We need your help again this year! Gifts, or gift cards for $5 and $10, are greatly appreciated. Click here to see the wish list. Printed flyers of the wish list can be found in the Library, the Counseling Center, the Advancement Office, and posted around campus. Gifts will be collected before and after school and during both lunch periods in Mrs. Falcone's Counseling Office and the Counseling Center.

Parents: Please check student progress with OnCampus

Student Grade Information Can Be Found Online Using OnCampus
Parents are reminded that student grades are updated using the OnCampus grade reporting system on the 1st and 15th of each month. Please check your student's progress by visiting the OnCampus website and logging in. You can find OnCampus by visiting mitty.com and selecting OnCampus from the QuickLinks menu. If you haven’t already created a login and password, please click the "Forgot Login or First Time Logging In?" link to set up an account. Immersions

ECJ Program
Current sophomores who are interested in participating in one of the Ethics, Culture, and Justice classes during their junior year can apply for the program through November 28th. The application can be found on the Campus Ministry website. Students must also ask one teacher to complete a recommendation for them. For more information, please see the Campus Ministry website.

Co-curricular Immersion Trips
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are interested in participating in one of our co-curricular immersion trips this year can apply for the trips through November 28th. Spring trips count for 50 hours of Christian Service for this school year and summer trips count for 50 hours of Christian Service for next school year. The application can found on the Campus Ministry website. Students must also ask one teacher to complete a recommendation for them. For more information, please see the Campus Ministry website. Seniors are not eligible for summer trips.

COLLEGE APPLICATIONS (SENIORS)

As deadlines approach, please note the following:
The deadline is ONLY for the student application. Supplemental materials (test scores, transcripts, letters of recommendation) are sent separately so you do not have to wait for your teachers or counselor in order to submit your application.

• Make sure that all of your colleges are listed on Naviance and on the Common App. Your recommenders cannot send their letters if a college is missing from either list. If the college is not on the Common Application, it should still be on Naviance.

• You should send your official test scores through your College Board/ACT account. Archbishop Mitty cannot send your test scores.

• Review your application with your counselor before you submit it.

• Parents, please make sure to submit all required financial aid applications (FAFSA and/or CSS Profile).

Monarchs Win CCS Semifinal Football Game
The Monarch football team collected a 24-7 victory against second-seeded Los Gatos High School on Friday, a win that earned them a spot in the Central Coast Section Open Division II championship. Last week, the Monarchs emerged victorious in the CCS quarterfinals against Oak Grove High School, the reigning CCS Open Division II champions.

In the game against Los Gatos, the Monarchs started off strong with senior Zondre Faraj-Washington rushing for a 64-yard touchdown, securing a 6-0 lead. The Monarch defense held Los Gatos to its lowest point total of the season and forced three turnovers, including an impressive interception returned for a 76-yard touchdown by senior Keaton Collier.

With seven minutes left in the second quarter, junior Jake Serpa kicked a 23-yard field goal that brought the score to 10-7. Just before halftime, junior Gabe Meza blocked a field goal, protecting the team's lead.

Cheer the Monarchs to victory this week as they play Serra for the CCS championship at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25th, at Westmont High School.

Cross Country Team Advances to State Championship
The men's cross country team stepped to the starting line of the CCS Division II championship with a desire to win. They delivered, placing third in the CCS championship and advancing to the California Interscholastic Federation state championship for the first time in 18 years.

This is the third time in the school's history that the men's cross country team has qualified to compete at this level. At the recent CCS race, the team gained good ground coming through the first mile with senior Eric Coyle running in the leading pack at 5:01, junior Jim Falcone at 5:06, and junior Sammy Leather close behind at 5:13. The first four athletes, including senior Yoshmar Pinal, came through the finish line divided by only 42 seconds and twelve places. Coyle led the Monarchs with a personal best time for the course of 16:01.5. Congratulations to the team on a great performance.

New Financial Aid Information

Archbishop Mitty High School, under the auspices of the Diocese of San Jose, is pleased to introduce our new financial aid management company, FACTS, which will collect and evaluate levels of financial aid need for the 2017-2018 school year. FACTS purchased PSAS earlier this year and as our returning families will see, most of the information, guidelines, and documentation will be similar to the format of the PSAS application.

All families requesting financial aid will be directed to our website to create an account with FACTS. Applications must be submitted online. Supporting documentation, including 2016 W-2s and 2015 Federal Tax returns, should be uploaded, faxed, or mailed. This is a secure online process where you will provide a username and a password. After creating your account, you can log in whenever it is convenient. Once logged in, you can fill out the application; update, change, and save information; track your progress; and communicate directly with helpful and knowledgeable FACTS staff members. The application is easy to navigate and is available in English and Spanish.

Only one application per household is required. If you are a returning family, you will be able to log in to your 2016-2017 PSAS application for reference. Financial aid applications will be available through our website, mitty.com, beginning November 20th and will be due February 6th. Families who want to be considered for financial aid for the 2017-2018 school year are encouraged to apply. Financial aid is awarded on a need-basis only.
