Campus Ministry

Immersion Information Night
There will be an Immersion Program Information Night on Thursday, November 3rd, in the chapel. We will discuss co-curricular trips (for sophomores, juniors, and seniors) from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and ECJ courses (for sophomores only) from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This important evening will allow interested students and parents to learn about all the immersion trips Archbishop Mitty offers. See the Campus Ministry website for more information about the trips.

Sacrament of Confirmation Formation Process
The Archbishop Mitty High School Confirmation Formation Process prepares Catholic students to complete their initiation into the Church through the Sacrament of Confirmation. Campus Ministry encourages all sophomores who have been baptized and have a desire to be fully initiated into the Catholic community to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Juniors and seniors who are not yet confirmed are also welcome to enroll. The AMHS Confirmation Formation Process consists of three Monday evening meetings that focus on strengthening the faith community, deepening students' faith by reflecting on the gifts of the Holy Spirit at work in their lives, and examining the roles and responsibilities of confirmed members of the Catholic community. With the help of peer leaders, the process encourages small and large group fellowship, characteristics of discipleship, and sacramental preparation. The Confirmation Formation Process begins in early February and concludes with the celebration of Confirmation at school on May 4th. Online registration is now open and will close on December 1st. To register, please go to the school’s website, then to Quick Links, and select "Confirmation."

NCAA Signing Day is Next Week

Archbishop Mitty High School hosts three NCAA Signing Days on campus each year. Information about these events was mailed home to senior parents in September. Please take time to review the letter as well as the AMHS NCAA Signing Day website for information about which seniors qualify to participate in these signing events. Questions regarding NCAA Signing Days at AMHS should be directed to Mr. Josh Walker, Director of Athletics. Qualified student-athletes can sign up here. The deadline to register for the November 9th NCAA Signing Day is this Wednesday, November 2nd.

Important Dates for Next Year, 2017-18

It isn't too early to begin planning for next school year, 2017-18. The administration sets important dates, including school holidays, long in advance to enable families to make long-range plans knowing the potential impact on their students in terms of missed school. We ask that families endeavor to avoid missing school whenever possible. Please be particularly conscious of the schedule of semester final exams in December of 2017 and May of 2018.

A complete listing of AMHS holidays and important dates for 2017-18 can be found on the Mitty website by following this link.

Student Activities

Another Phenomenal Spirit Week!
Our community enjoyed another spirit week with a variety of activities, dress days, and student participation. The week started with "Modern Day Hero," where students showed how much they appreciate the people in their daily lives. On Tuesday, students turned back the clocks and dressed for "Time Travel Tuesday." Wednesday was class color day with an action-packed game of powder puff football. Characters from Peter Pan, Hunger Games, Survivor, and Pirates of the Caribbean were roaming the campus on Thursday. Friday was "Mitty Wear Day," so students dressed with Mitty pride and enjoyed an exciting spirit rally.

Amid heavy competition in powder puff football, cheerleader dancing, and an epic tug of war contest, the numbers spoke for themselves. In the end, the Class of 2017 accumulated more than 230 points and will have its class year engraved on the spirit week trophy, but with the work of class representatives, ASB, and our students, the entire Archbishop Mitty community was truly victorious.

Athletics Report

The women's water polo team earned a spot among the top three teams in the WCAL last week. In the WCAL quarter-finals, held Tuesday, the team took a 14-8 win against Saint Ignatius. Freshman Arrington McGee poured in two goals. Junior Amanda Rice also had a great game with another two goals.School Spirit

The team advanced to the third place WCAL finals, where they had a 6-5 win against Presentation on Saturday, and took their place among the top teams in the league. The team scored 2-1 and 2-0 in the first quarters, before tying 1-1 in the third quarter and dropping the final quarter 1-2. With about three minutes left in the final quarter, the team was down three players, but still blocked three shots from the opposing team, letting the time on the clock run out so they could win the game. Senior Cleo Constantin, the team's goalie, had a great game with 15 blocks, two assists, and two steals. Senior Katie Rose also played well, pouring in a goal, and getting one assist, two steals, and one blocked shot.

Volleyball Team Wins WCAL Championship
The women's varsity volleyball team had an excellent week, winning the WCAL semifinals against Sacred Heart Cathedral on Wednesday. They lost the first set 12-25, but rallied to score 25-12, 25-19, and 25-21, taking the game 3-1. Juniors Kamrin Caoili and Makaela Tanaka, plus seniors Candice Denny and Kate Formico had especially notable performances during the game.

The team went on to compete in the finals on Thursday, defeating Saint Ignatius in three straight sets (25-19, 26-24, and 25-22) to repeat as WCAL Champions. Caoili and Formico had especially strong performances. The team is currently ranked #1 in the Mercury News' Bay Area Preps Top 20 and #1 in the state by Cal-Hi Sports. Good luck to our Monarchs as they move on to the Central Coast Section Championships.
