Spirit Week Dress Days
The ever popular dress up days are an important part of Spirit Week. The dress code guidelines for the rest of this week's festivities can be found on the school's website on the Student Life page, under "Spirit Week." Today is Modern Hero Monday, so if your student dressed in what they consider a modern hero outfit, it should all make sense now!

All the descriptions of dress days and prohibited items can be found on the Student Life page, under "Spirit Week," or by clicking here.

Homecoming Dance is Saturday night!
The Homecoming Dance, which marks the official end of Spirit Week, will take place this Saturday, October 29th. This semi-formal dance is always very popular and will be a great event for your student. Students may bring a date but it's not required. What's important is that they get dressed up and have a great time. Guest pass forms are due to Student Activities on Tuesday, October 25th. Students can always bring them in earlier, if they would like. Click here to access the guest pass form.

TICKETS CAN ONLY BE PURCHASED ONLINE FOR THIS DANCE!
No tickets will be sold in the Student Activities Office or at the door. Sales are now open and will run until 3:00 p.m. the day of the dance. The ticket prices are $10 per person and $20 per couple. Please click here for dance policies and dress code details for the dance.

Annual Night Football Game at AMHS

Please join us this Friday, October 28th, for the annual AMHS Night Football Game, as your Monarchs take on the Bellarmine Bells at 7:00 p.m. on Father Jack Russi Field at Bothman Stadium. Gates for the west parking lot entrance near the two gyms and the east parking lot entrance near the baseball field will open at 3:15 p.m. for the junior varsity game. We will also be opening a special student gate near the Aymar Events Center from 5:45 p.m. until 7:15 p.m.

As in past years, the San Jose Police Department will be enforcing a no BBQ/tailgating policy that will apply to the areas on and near the campus. Please be considerate of our neighbors and plan on arriving early as parking is limited. Also, please refrain from using any type of artificial noisemakers.

Food may be purchased in the Fien Gym from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and tickets for the meals will be available at the door. A meal package includes your choice of a hamburger, cheeseburger, or polish sausage; soda, water, coffee or hot chocolate; and chips for $7. Soda, water, coffee or hot chocolate will also be sold separately for $1.50 each. We will also have a separate drink and snack station located outside of Fien Gym during the game.

Cross Country Teams Give Strong Performances in WCAL Meet
School Spirit

The varsity cross country teams sprinted to strong finishes in the WCAL II meet held last week at the Polo Fields in San Francisco.

The women's cross country team took fifth place in the meet, placing them among the top three teams in the WCAL as the group approaches the league championship in early November. Senior Abby Mangilog ran a personal best on the Golden Gate Park course and placed third, improving one position from her ranking in the first WCAL meet. Junior Jasmine Ho, who also ran a personal best, took 18th place.

Showing their greatest strength so far this season, the men's cross country team improved its performance from the first WCAL meet and finished in fourth place. The team was led by senior Eric Coyle who finished 12th and whose 16:00.5 time was the second fastest in school history on the Golden Gate Park course. One of the team's most reliable contributors, junior Jim Falcone, placed 21st with a time of 16:33.2. All seven varsity athletes set new course personal records.

Field Hockey Team Earns Consecutive Victories
The varsity women's field hockey team had a very successful week as they won both of their matches. On Tuesday, the team defeated Willow Glen High School 6-0. Senior Morgan Peterson poured in three goals, while senior Shea Gavin had two of her own. On Thursday, the team continued their winning streak with a 3-1 win against Leigh High School. Morgan continued to find the back of the net as she scored two more goals. The team is currently in first place in the Blossom Valley Athletic League and is looking to claim its fourth consecutive league title.

AMHS Visual Arts Gallery

Archbishop Mitty's Visual Arts Department is pleased to announce the latest AMHS Visual Arts Gallery, which showcases our students' artwork. This month, we have a special exhibit, a retrospective of Luie Lopez's photography. Most of us knew Luie Lopez as the school's Director of Publications who was also an avid photographer capturing images of rallies, athletics, and daily life at the school. We were all deeply saddened last spring when his battle with cancer came to an end. To see the gallery, visit the school's website under "Quick Links" or click here.
