Mission

Responding to the belief that we are all made in the image and likeness of God, the AMHS Genesis Outreach Program has two goals; one, to attract qualified young men and women of color to join and participate fully in the AMHS community and two, to provide these students with the academic and social support to attain success.  Students and their families are provided with extensive academic and social support through our dedicated programs and faculty.  Support services include:

Academic Support & Services

  • Individual Counseling
  • Peer tutoring services
  • EXCEL program (academic lunch period program)
  • Math & Science student tutorial centers
  • Individual teacher assistance during off periods

Social Support

  • African American Student Union (AASU)
  • Latin American Student Union (LASU)
  • APISU (Asian Pacific Islander Student Union).
  • Cultural Celebrations
  • AMHS Immersion Program

College Guidance

Archbishop Mitty Counseling and Guidance Department, recognizing that each student is unique and talented in many ways, is committed to providing a program that gives students individualized attention both academically and emotionally.  The Counseling and Guidance Department is comprised of a professional staff of six full time counselors, each of whom tends to the various personal needs of students, inclusive of academic concerns, College Guidance, At-Risk behaviors, NCAA Athletics, Career Paths, and Drugs and Alcohol Education. Archbishop Mitty students attend a variety of colleges and universities across the country. Support services include:

  • Scholarship & Recognition Opportunities
  • UC and Cal State application workshops
  • PSAT-SAT preparation program
  • Junior and Senior College planning interviews
  • College financial aid seminars for parents
  • Career Exploration
