Faculty Grant Program
The Archbishop Mitty Faculty Grant Program is designed to support the professional development of faculty at Archbishop Mitty High School. A primary goal of this program is to enhance the Catholic identity of AMHS through education and development of faculty as active ministers of the Gospel. In addition the program exists to promote the academic expertise of faculty. Growing as a minister and as a teacher requires faculty committed to engaging in experiences and academic investigations that enhance the faculty member's skills, knowledge, and teaching methodologies.
As the Mission Statement of Archbishop Mitty points out, “ . . . the school . . . encourages students to respond to their world with competence, insight, understanding, courage, and compassion based on a tradition of faith and moral values" (The Mission of Archbishop Mitty High School). In response to this mission and the demonstrated needs of faculty for professional development as Catholic educators, Archbishop Mitty sponsors the Faculty Grant Program. The program is successful to the degree that faculty grow to be individuals who teach as Jesus taught and who prepare young men and women to be agents of change in our world.
In the final analysis, the Archbishop Mitty educator is a skilled professional who walks in the footsteps of Christ. As a person of faith, the Archbishop Mitty educator empowers young men and women to develop strong character and broad academic competence while living lives of faith and justice.

Faculty grant requests are brought to the department chair(s) involved. The grant proposal is then submitted to the Director of Teacher Development. The Director of Teacher Development then consults with the Associate Principal to determine whether or not a particular grant is adopted in whole or in part.
Expenses
1. Grants consist of stipends for teacher time, as well as, moneys for all expenses related to the project. Stipends are paid when the final report is submitted and approved by the Director of Teacher Development. Expenses can be paid through submitting purchase order forms to the Business Office during the project.
2. The grants should not replace application to other sources of funding such as the National Endowment for the Humanities.
3. Grants are not applied to those traditional inservice opportunities budgeted through the departments or the Director of Teacher Development, e.g. attendance at the state conference in a subject area.
4. Grants may be applied to enrollment in university programs or workshops that are sponsored by Archbishop Mitty. In some cases theses classes may gain credit for teachers for advancement on the faculty salary scale. These grants apply to educational programs that enhance the theological or spiritual growth in the Roman Catholic tradition. Grants are not applied to enrollment in other university programs or workshops that are not sponsored by the school and gain credit for teachers for advancement on the faculty salary scale.
