Career Symposium Program

Each year the Archbishop Mitty Board of Regents, the Alumni Council, and the Counseling Department, sponsor a series of Career Education Symposiums.  Each symposium is designed to enhance student knowledge of a variety of career opportunities within a particular career category.  Panelists within each category talk about their career paths, preparation for a similar career, enjoyable aspects of their job, and challenges of their position.  There are three career symposiums scheduled for the 2009-10 school year:

November 13 (Topic: Springboard Careers)

"Archbishop Mitty is excited to announce the return of Julie Watts `98 to the Mitty campus to serve as the moderator for the 2009-2010 Career Symposiums. Julie is an Emmy Award Winning Meteorologist and Reporter/Anchor at KPIX CBS – 5 in San Francisco. She is also a freelance host for shows like “Designing Spaces” on TLC. Julie graduated from AMHS in 1998 and went on to earn her Bachelor and Masters degree in Journalism at the University of Southern California.

Julie will help kick off Archbishop Mitty’s first Career Symposium of the year, “Springboard Careers.” Springboard Careers are career paths formed by a strong educational foundation with great flexibility for the 21st century workplace."

January 13 (Topic: Careers in Globalization)

Archbishop Mitty is excited to announce the return of Julie Watts `98 to the Mitty campus to act as the moderator for the 2009-2010 Career Symposiums. Julie is an Emmy Award Winning Meteorologist and Reporter/Anchor at KPIX CBS – 5 in San Francisco. She is also a freelance host for shows like “Designing Spaces” on TLC. Globalization has become an important part of the school’s curriculum, including courses in economics and sociology. We are excited about presenting career possibilities that look to this future, with the flow of information and resources moving ever faster around the world, providing opportunities and challenges. Students currently studying a subject that could lead to these career paths are encouraged by the faculty and administration to attend.
