Retreats

The retreat program at Mitty is an essential part of the communal and spiritual experience at Archbishop Mitty. Through participating in a retreat, students are able to deepen both their personal spirituality as well as their friendships with classmates. Retreats are offered at every grade level. Senior students, recent Mitty alumni and faculty members lead all retreats. For information on any of the following retreats, please contact Mr. Dick Howard.

Kairos (Seniors)

The Senior Kairos retreat experience is a profound experience of God's immeasurable love. On this retreat, Seniors discover the grace of God's presence in our lives through family, friends, and community. "Kairos" comes from the Greek word meaning "special time." Graduating Seniors often comment that Kairos is a life-changing event. The retreat is a three-day, two-night experience and is held at beautiful Presentation Center on Bear Creek Road in Los Gatos. The following are the Kairos dates for this school year:

Kairos #1:            September 3-5, 2007
Kairos #2:            October 22-24, 2007
Kairos #3:            November 5-7, 2007
Kairos #4:            January 21-23, 2008
Kairos #5:            February 18-20, 2008
Kairos #6:            April 7-9, 2008

Quest (Juniors)

Juniors are invited to participate in one of four weekend Junior Quest retreats. Retreatants will discover and explore their own personal quest as they move through their high school years and beyond. The retreats leave Thursday after school and return Saturday at noon. The following are the Quest retreat dates for this year:

Quest #1:            September 27-29, 2007
Quest #2:            Ocotber 25-27, 2007
Quest #3:            January 31- February 2, 2008
Quest #4:            April 17-19, 2008

Agape (Sophomores)

Sophomores are invited to participate in one of three overnight Agape retreats (Agape is the Greek word for "unconditional love"). Retreatants will examine their "love" relationships and growth in their ability to truly love (self, peers, family, and God). Retreatants leave on a Friday after school and return Saturday evening. The following are the dates for the Agape retreats for this school year:

Agape #1:            November 9-10, 2007
Agape #2:            January 25-26, 2008
Agape #3:            May 2-3, 2008

Awakenings (Freshmen)

Freshmen are encouraged to attend one of four overnight Awakenings retreats. Retreatants are introduced to the concept of what a retreat is and how important it can be for developing their own spiritual life. Retreatants leave on a Friday after school and return on Saturday evening. This year, the Awakenings retreats are on the following dates:

Awakenings #1:            September 21-22,  2007
Awakenings #2:            October 19-20, 2007
Awakenings #3:            November 30-December 1, 2007
Awakenings #4:            February 29-March 1, 2008
