Women’s Tennis Head Coach
Mr. Jason Scalese
The Varsity Gir's Tennis team finished the 2007 season with an overall record of 25-3 and a 14-0 finish in the WCAL, good for a 2nd straight league title. The team avenged a 4-3 loss to Monta Vista in the CCS final to earn its first CIF NorCal title in school history, the highest achievement possible for High School tennis beating Monta Vista 4-3 in the final of NorCal. Highlights of the season included winning the WCAL for a second year in a row, and the 2007 season was only the 2nd time a team has won league by going undefeated in the 6 seasons the WCAL has existed for women’s tennis. The team also finished 3rd in the 96 team Central California High School tennis tournament in Fresno, the largest such event in the country. Junior Tayler Davis won her 3rd straight WCAL singles title, and her 1st CCS singles title en route to being named San Jose Mercury News Player of the Year and WCAL Player of the Year. All league honorees included Tayler Davis, Stefanie Ton, Stacy Yam, Christina Ton, Briana Neveras, Tara Vanooteghem, Maggie Yudkevich. Over the past 6 seasons, the Monarchs have 3 WCAL titles and 2 second place finishes in CCS and have averaged 15 wins in each of the last 8 seasons.
