Women’s Volleyball Head Coach
Bret Almazan-Cezar

A perfect season is a rarity in any sport, but that’s exactly what the 2009 women’s volleyball team accomplished. The Monarchs’ final victory came at the CIF State Division II Championship game at U.C. Irvine this past December. Facing Redlands East Valley High School in the playoff final for the second consecutive year, the Monarchs retained their title by defeating the Wildcats again in three straight sets, 25-16, 25-18, and 25-21.

The victory was the 8th CIF title for the program, tying a state record.  It also capped an undefeated season for the team as they finished with a perfect 39-0 mark. They ended the season with the  #1 ranking on every poll when the final polls to claim the “mythical” national title. Along the way, only 6 teams managed to take a set of the Monarchs all season, as the champions won 32 of 39 matches in straight sets. A truly dominating campaign by the best high school women’s volleyball program in the country.

Congratulations to head coach Bret Almazan-Cezar, his entire staff, and especially the players, for making the 2009 season a memorable one. All hail the Monarchs.
