Archbishop Mitty High School is a Catholic high school operated under the direction of the Department of Education of the Diocese of San Jose. The Principal is Mr. Timothy Brosnan, who has the ultimate responsibility for general administration, the relationship between the school and its publics, and overseeing the implementation of the policies and programs of the school in cooperation with the Diocesan Department of Education. The Associate Principal is Mr. Richard Robinson. His responsibilities include coordination of curriculum development, academic policies, teacher supervision, staff development, student discipline, student scheduling, the Office of the Registrar, and general administration.
Archbishop Mitty has three assistant principals charged with general administrative duties. Ms. Lisa Brunolli coordinates teacher recruitment, staff development, and organizes the teacher supervision program. Ms. Kate Caputo’s responsibilities include directing admissions and public relations. Ms. Latanya Johnson oversees Campus Ministry, Athletics, Performing Arts, Student Activates and the Outreach program. Mr. Jorge Helmer is the Chief Financial Officer and oversees all the business activities and investments of the school while supervising institutional technology and facilities.
The Administrative Council also includes those administrators who carry out specific functions at the school. The Executive Director of Advancement coordinates fund raising events, annual giving, and alumni relations. The Dean of Students oversees student behavior and campus security. The Athletic Director coordinates the school’s athletic program. The Director of Summer Programs coordinates all of Mitty’s summer camps and educational programs. The Director of Campus Ministry oversees the Campus Ministry Team, which provides for religious celebrations, student retreats, and the Christian Service Program. The Director of Performing Arts oversees all aspects of the Performing Arts Program and productions. The Director of Student Activities supervises the student government, clubs, and all student social events.
The Administrative Council meets every week and provides the Principal with important advice for meeting the school’s short and long-term goals.
The basic educational structure is the department. This structure includes the departments of Counseling and Guidance, English, Library, Modern Language, Mathematics, Religious Studies, Science, Social Studies, Visual Arts, and Performing Arts. Each of these departments has a chairperson who administrates the department in accordance with policies and procedures established by the Administration. Department chairs sit on the Academic Council. The Academic Council is chaired by the Associate Principal and meets weekly. Department chairs assist with the development of curriculum and teacher development in their respective departments. The Physical Development department provides education to students in physical development and is managed by the Assistant Athletic Director who reports to the Associate Principal. Mrs. Karen Waterbury is the Registrar and is responsible for scheduling and student records.
The Board of Regents
The Board of Regents assists the school in the following ways:
- provides input into the development and implementation of long-range planning for Archbishop Mitty High School
- works with the Principal and the Executive Director for Advancement to raise funds to achieve the school’s goals
- provides business and professional leadership to help the school fulfill its educational mission
Membership on the Board includes parents, alumni, alumni parents, and business and professional people in the Santa Clara Valley community who are committed to the mission and goals of Archbishop Mitty High School.
Archbishop Mitty Parent Association (AMPA)
The objectives of this organization are the following:
- to instill a sense of community by providing opportunities for parents to work and socialize together
- to provide opportunities to increase volunteerism among parents and students
- to provide service and financial support to enhance student programs
